ShedScout is a small independent site. We are not an advertising business and we do not sell data. This page explains what happens when you visit, in plain language.
The short version
We do not ask you to create an account. We do not sell or share your information. The site does not load an analytics script unless the owner has turned on Cloudflare Web Analytics. If that switch is off, we do not count you with a tracker at all.
What we collect automatically
If Cloudflare Web Analytics is turned on, it counts pages people view, the site that sent them, a rough location such as country, and the browser type. Cloudflare describes this service as cookie-free. It is built to show patterns, not to name you. If the token is not set, that script is not on the page.
Our host, Cloudflare, keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, which it uses to serve pages and block attacks.
The foundation calculator and the cost tools run in your browser. They do not send the shed size or foundation you picked to us.
What we collect when you give it to us
If you email us, we have your email address and whatever you wrote. We keep it only as long as we need to reply and to keep a record of the conversation.
If we ever add an email signup or a download that asks for your address, this page will say so before it launches, and you will always be able to unsubscribe in one click.
Cookies
We do not set advertising cookies. Cloudflare may set a security cookie. If a future analytics beacon is enabled, it is the cookie-free Cloudflare Web Analytics script, not Google Analytics.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The guides, quiz, and calculators still work if you do.
Affiliate links
Some links on ShedScout may earn us a commission if you buy something. Those links can set a cookie belonging to the retailer, governed by that retailer's own privacy policy, not ours. It never changes your price. Any page carrying such a link says so on the page. Our editorial disclosure explains how this affects, and does not affect, what we recommend.
Who else sees your data
The service that makes the site run is Cloudflare, for hosting, security, and (only if we turn it on) privacy-friendly page counts. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Under the CCPA definition, we do not sell or share your data.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or UK, the GDPR gives you the right to see what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, take it elsewhere, and object to it. Our legal basis for any optional analytics is legitimate interest in understanding whether our content is useful. For email, it is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
If you are in California, the CCPA gives you the right to know what we collect, request deletion, and not be treated differently for asking.
To use any of these rights, email hello@shedscout.com. We will reply within 30 days. You do not need to explain why.
Children
ShedScout is for adults planning building projects. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
Data outside your country
Our host operates globally, so data may be processed in the United States and elsewhere. Cloudflare uses standard contractual clauses for international transfers.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top of the page. This version replaces the July 26, 2026 policy, which described Google Analytics. That script is no longer on the site. Analytics now loads only when a Cloudflare Web Analytics token is configured, and it stays off otherwise.
