What ShedScout is
ShedScout is an editorially independent shed resource hub. Our mission is to be the unbiased, knowledgeable-neighbor voice in a category that is dominated by manufacturer marketing on one side and thin search content on the other. We write deep guides, build free tools, and tell you what we'd tell a friend asking for advice.
How we make money
ShedScout may earn a small commission when you buy through a link on our site. That commission does not change your price. Affiliate relationships do not decide which products we cover, the order we present them in, or what we say about them. Any page with affiliate links says so near the top.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not run ads on the site today.
What we will not do
We will not accept payment for inclusion in a brand round-up. We will not let a brand review or approve an article before we publish it. We will not remove honest criticism in exchange for advertising or affiliate revenue. We will not rank products to favor a company we have a relationship with. The same criteria apply across the board, and you are welcome to challenge them.
What we will do
We will tell you when a product is a poor fit. We will keep cost figures, brand listings, and regulatory information up to date, and we will correct articles when we discover errors. We will keep using primary sources — published manufacturer pricing and warranty terms, building-code records, and municipal permit documents — and we will say where a number came from and when we last checked it, so you can verify it instead of taking our word.
Information accuracy
The cost figures, regulatory information, and comparisons on ShedScout are drawn from publicly available consumer and trade research, real homeowner project breakdowns, and state and local building code as of early 2026, unless a page names a later check. Building codes change. Permit fees change. Pricing changes. Always verify with your local jurisdiction and with the manufacturer before you spend money. We are a starting point, not a substitute for your building department, your contractor, or your accountant.
